While Sedalia was Scott Joplin’s home for only a few years, it was a home with a special meaning for him. The Maple Leaf Rag becam Scott's most famous piece and sold half a million copies by 1909. This piece possibly is the reason why Joplin became known to his name of 'The King of Ragtime.
